Late later latest.

It's been a while since I posted and I seem to have made the grievous error of not making a Christmas post. It seems that most blogs even those not frequently updated at least put up a Christmas post. Oops. Merry Christmas. There, now we can get on to even more useless maters.
For Christmas I got a new pen tablet for drawing. It's called the Bamboo. It's not much in the grand scheme of tablets, but I think it'll suit me well for now. It's taking a bit to get used to but I can already see how much faster I will be able to work. Hopefully I will be able to overcome the horrible shaking in my hand as well. Here's a sample of a test drawing with the new tablet.

Kinda iffy still, but way better than my first attempts. I patiently await artistic Nirvana

In the same vein of all of this I have been surfing for more good online comics and I happened upon this little gem. Questionable Content. Like most online comics it started with a theme, but soon it moved past being a venue for inside jokes about the indie music scene. It's interesting to watch the art improve and the jokes get more universal. Some might call that selling out- I call that being good. Possibly the best part of this strip though is that it is updated daily. Mostly. Still that's more than you  can ask of most online comics. So the mighty stamp of approval goes to this slice of life romantic comedy comic, give it a look. Though I recommend you start here: Strip one.

Short, bold and sweet. Just like me. So ta for now, more soon.

The Road does go ever on.

All I have to say is hell yes. This has made my year. Enjoy.

Nature Valley bars are good, but they hurt my jaw.

So after yet another very long night without much if any sleep I have at the very least come up with a very long sentence, and a new piece of art. I was trying something new, I wanted to get a more simple style going. In the end it always looks the same. At any rate for alla yous out there- here ya go, don't hate the sweetness.

It was supposed to be panel one of a sorta long comic but I tire easily. We'll see. That's all for now true believers.

The Lord works in mysterious ways...

I know it's been awhile but as always- life she crazy. One thing is for certain I'm spending these days holding my breath waiting for the other shoe to drop. Hopefully it's not an ACME anvil-shoe. (pg.56 of the fall/winter catalogue.) At least the fast approach of Christmas lends a bit of distraction as it's own brand of crazy takes over. I have a feeling this will be a strange but contented holiday season...
I decided that it was time to get motivated so I drew up a quick very rough comic for every one's viewing pleasure. Eat it up. Sorry there is no gravy.

There has been a lot of talk bout the evil nature of the book and the movie version of THE GOLDEN COMPASS. All I have to say is that the religious groups once again didn't bother to read what they trash. Maybe then they'd see that though the author is anti- religion, the "creator" that they battle in the books sounds suspiciously like the devil pretending to be God... naaah, he spoke against them he must be destroyed. Long live the church. Amen.
Now that that is over maybe I can get back to a regular posting schedule. Happy holidays and don't get destroyed while shopping!

And now for something completely similar...

I don't really have anything insightful today, but being that I am in such an artistic mood I figured why not share one of my older favorite drawings and a comic I made from them. Hopefully posting them will help inspire me to get off my kiester and do more of them. I may continue putting more of my old pictures later so if you like crazy pictures then hang on, your in for a whole world 'o' treats. Enjoy.

Well folks, that's all for now- stay tuned for more.

Drugs Are Bad

So today I have decided to post a drawing I did last night. For your viewing pleasure of course. I am going to color it soon... I hope. I'll post the final version when it's done. And before you ask- No, I don't know what the hell is wrong with me. This is why I never sleep...

So there you have it. Enjoy.

P.S. I am accepting name suggestions for this little bundle of joy.

The Pale Light of Day

So I finished the trip. We landed squarely in tinsel town. I was happy for a bit. But Murphy- she a bitch and done took it away. So suffice it to say I'm back home and once again eagerly awaiting my departure. And it's cold.

For my own mental health I think it's best if we all ignored that this even happened. Good. That's settled. Now back to our regularly scheduled program: Grant's and raves.

So last night I watched Tin Man. Normally I don't watch the Sci Fi channel anymore, partly because of time but mostly because their production values are so shitty. They Have really great ideas but it all seems so half assed I am tempted to think that the BBC had something to do with it. But now the BBC has teamed up with HBO their quality is becoming- dare I say- surprisingly decent. Before I digress let me point out that I'm not a big fan of the OZ series. In particular the musical. I know from the few books I have read that that is not at all a good representation of the world of OZ. (I have come no where near the whole 66 books in the epic cycle.) So I had high hopes for this show, maybe due to my lack of familiarity with the rest of the stories. Given the cast I was hoping it would be good. But alas, Sci Fi channel once again you failed me.

I do have to say primarily the fault rests with Zooey Deschanel. She is kind of cute, but in the past I have tolerated her lackadaisical character choices because they usually worked for the spacey girls she played. But next to actors like Neal McDonough, who's characters are very much in the here and now (or there and then) it comes off as a little bit strange. To say nothing of the fact that it gave Alan Cumming nothing to play off of. That's really hard to do. I wasn't sure if this was all in my head until Richard Dreyfuss came on and made me sit up and pay attention again. Now he is an accomplished actor and I'm a fan, but he's never stood out that much in a movie to me before. In my humble opinion that's because he didn't have to have that much of a connection with the others, allowing him to do his fabulous thing UN-hindered.

I won't even complain about the special effects. I've come to grips with the fact that the level of quality of special effects in Sci Fi shows are fairly... well... bad. Hell, even FOX has better cgi on their weekly shows. That's just sad. Unlike (apparently) the rest of the populace I almost never complain about modern cgi. I don't see the fakeness that everyone else sees, so to me it sounds uniformed and snobbish. But hey, I only work in entertainment what do I know? The audience knows best.

And to wrap up this glorious return to posting I have a picture I stumbled on to on the web. My apologies to whom ever this belongs to, I couldn't find the link again.

A Dryad

Wow. Mother nature is hot as hell. Screw tree hugging, it's time to steal the next base. Le Rowl.

Until next time.
